DUE BY MONDAY@ MIDNIGHT
Address your "Book" blogs. They should have a clear statement of the concept of your book, a physical description of the book (dimension, type of paper, text/no text or describe the intentions for an object based book). Upload 7 working images for your book.
Please update your "Series" blogs via the crit that you received during class. You received a lot of feedback! Focus and address all of the issues mentioned. Make sure that you remove old "ill fitting" images and replace with strong images. THEN post your new 7 images. (You should have 28 in total.)
DUE BY TUESDAY @ MIDNIGHT
Give your classmates a solid critique of their book ideas. Please post these on each artists "Book" Blog. Please give each classmate a paragraph in regards to the book. You know the drill now, so address any inconsistencies in regard to form, concept and execution.

cant seem to comment on your glog. I like your idea. It makes me think of a photo project I had in my first photo class. Youve taken some great pictures. People are most interestng in their element. WIth the laywer though, im sure this is a confidentiality issue, but itd be cool to see what he was working on so i could tell it was a lawyer. Otherwise, good job!
Hailey - I also could not comment on your blog, so I am posting here.
ReplyDeleteI really love the idea. Though the people in the pictures may see their day to day jobs as mondane, I think we will find them very interesting, since a good portion of us have probably never done those jobs, and probably never really thought about the people who do. the white background will really keep to your simple and clean concept. Can't wait to see what kind of jobs and workers you post.
Portraits of people make the most interesting photographs- they tell so much about a person. You have a great knack for capturing expressions and the real emotion of what that employee is feeling. Some are happy to be working, while to others it's truly the daily grind. I agree with no text, your pictures are very self explanatory without it.
ReplyDeleteHailey,
ReplyDeleteThe concept looks fascinating. My only concern would be finding enough people who are willing to be photographed at work. Everything looks good so far. I’m looking forward to seeing the upcoming postings.

ReplyDeleteHailey,
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome idea. You definitely have a knack for noticing things many people take for granted. So many ordinary people (e.g. cashiers, chefs, clerks, etc.) go unnoticed and unappreciated in today's world. The only images I would say don't work as much are the Med Tech and Activity Director photos. The images themselves are fine, but it would be nice to see them actually busy at work; I liked how the other images made the people look oblivious to the fact they were having their picture taken. If you keep the subjects from breaking that fourth wall, I would say this would keep the viewer focused on the person as well as the action they are engaged in. I think this would also help if you are considering having no text; let the photos do the talking for you in this case. Overall I think this concept would help show the viewer that these individuals are not just workers, but humans with their own lives and daily routines. Great job, can't wait to see more!
Hailey,
ReplyDeleteI think this is going to be fabulous!!! You are really going to have to focus on color correction. Make sure that you pull the yellow out of these before you upload them to Blub. Poor color will kill this project.
Also, take lots of photos so that you can edit through them, some compositions are better than others--Love the woman pulling on her apron, staring off to the side of the frame. Fabulous composition there---make sure all final images for the book make the cut, on par with that image, and you will really be on to something! Exciting!
