Update series blogs with seven new images, as usual.
Upload the final pages of your books. Please upload them as screen shots so that we may see the spread as you have designed it. Then upload the book to our BLURB account so that we might thumb through the almost final draft.
DUE TUESDAY @ MIDNIGHT
Please offer your peers any suggestions to strengthen and finalize BOTH the Books AND the Series Blogs!
This is essentially your last chance to provide and receive feedback before I grade you for your Final. Your critiques should be supportive, yet honest. Remember to point out images that DO NOT SUPPORT the ideas of the blogs or books.Remember to point out images in need of color correction or cropping.
PLEASE NOTE: You will be graded on the quality of these critiques.
Spend next week finalizing your book and blog. If someone has suggested that you remove/replace one or more images, think hard about their advice. Remember that "off color" images will not be considered "A" worthy. At this point, all of your images should have beautifully rich tones, excellent composition and poignant subject matter. If one image is weak, make sure you replace it with a stronger one.
Emily - I really like your series. I can see that these things just make you happy. I aslo like that you seemed to have pulled the color of your text right from the pictures. It's great.
ReplyDeleteCatherine - Again, it doesn't look like you have had the opportunity to update your blog. What is here is great. but i would really love to see the finished product.
Gabe - I really like the set up of your blog. I like that you have it broken down into weeks and not just a run of pictures (like mine is), it adds interest and makes me want to look at each week.
Hailey - The black and white pictures are beautiful. Nothing to light, nothing too dark. The expressions on the faces in your pics are so captivating. I just want to stare and try and figure out what they are thinking.
Haley - I like the idea for your blog and that in most pictures you have the something little next to something else we would recongnize so we can see exactly how small the objects are. The only one I had an issue with the was the little file. It is so little I had problems figuring out what it was and it is not next to anything else so it just doesn't feel like it fits quite as weel as the rest of your pics.
Marva - I love the pictures in your blog, but I don't wuite understand the concept. That's ok though because these are thuings from your life, so I don't need to understand, I just need to want to look at them and I definitely do.
Patrick - I have to agree you would make a great band photgrapher. These pictures look very professional and the composition on them is terrific. I am not sure if photography is your major, but either way, you should keep going with it, you have real talent.
Emily:
ReplyDeleteNice job displaying very personal items! A few pictures (great great uncle's lighter, grandfather's lighter, embroidered baby bib) are blurry and should be retaken. The lighting in the Ragedy Ann & Andy photo is fantastic.
Catherine:
Hopefully come August we'll see the grand finale
Gabe:
Awesome variety of subject matter. It's always fun to try to figure out what the picture is. Your contrast and clarity is fabulous, wouldn't change a thing.
Hailey:
Your images are touching, black and white works to your advantage. I honestly don't have any critiques, very nice!
Marva:
The variety of your pictures makes a great collection of memorable photographs. You have textures, people, and activities to photograph- i could view these forever. I'm so impatient though... having to click older post to see the next one keeps the anticipation building.
Patrick:
Sweeeet band pictures. Nice exposure, technically they are excellent! You can see the development of the band as the summer has progressed, it's really special. The music at the top really adds to the vibe. Love them, super job.
Patrick - Your band photography is fantastic ! What more can be said here ? Glad you found a use for that photo of the paper weight. It makes a great album cover.
ReplyDeleteMelanie - You've gotten better at taking photos ! I love your pictures of water ways. You've got a few real gems in your dunescapes (the second one I love the most).
Haley Hagle - These are beautiful! I am least convinced by tufts of grass, corncob pipe, and sd card, but other than that, what a great project. I kind of wish this was a book too.
Hailey Jarette - I shed a tear. Seriously, just a quick browse got me choked up. You've done such a good job of portraying what a different world this is and your captions are such a fantastic guide to that world. What great intimacy in those nap photos...
Gabe - I was expecting this blog to be more colorful considering you have 70+ rainbow colored photos...I really dislike the fact that it groups them by week and doesn't display them by post instead. Still, I have a great time changing the display mode, and your photos are super gorgeous. (:
Catherine - Your images are very well shot. Good job finding some very interesting architecture. While I love your titles, I really wish these had addresses or something so I knew where these places were (although I understand a hesitation to post such information on the internet).
Emily - Good job choosing such sentimental subjects. I just wish that you had taken a few to the light studio and played around more with shooting them. But you've atleast done well to remain consistent.
Emily - Your photos are definitely personal and have been keeping along with that vibe. You have a very nostalgic blog. Only thing I'd say the images of the lighters and the nightlight seem a little blurry. Overall, it definitely makes me think about all the little things in my life that have made me happy.
ReplyDeleteCatherine - Still love your photos! Very professional overall. Only thing I'd say is maybe twist the Hail Mary image a tiny bit so that it doesn't look crooked, and maybe brighten up the Work in Progress one so it doesn't look too grey. Other than that, everything looks great!
Gabe - Your blog has always seemed so well put together. Definitely something to show off. I particularly like how you did Week 9, very clever using the color of the fireworks to your advantage. Each of your images accomplished what you set out to do!
Hailey - Your blog continues to elicit such strong emotions. There's nothing I can say other than great work! These are truly moving photos.
Haley - I like how some of your images are of the little objects in seemingly random places, with other random objects; helps put the size into perspective. Overall the images don't look like they need any color correcting or editing, so you're looking good!
Marva - This is pretty different than where you were originally going with this blog, but I'm liking the images. Clearly their all personal subject matters so technically they fit your overall theme. Some are pretty bizarre, but they all look good. Only thing I would say doesn't feel like it fits as much as the others is the one of what looks like green and blue feathers. Maybe if it were just taken from further away so you could see more of it, it might look a little more coherent.
Melanie - Overall your more recent pictures all seem to have better color to them. I would have liked to see some more differing landscape types, but I guess there are really only so many options to choose from (at least around here). Only thing I would say is on some of the beach ones, maybe twist them a little bit so the horizon isn't tilted, and I'd say you're all set!
just realized i forgot Melanie... oops!
ReplyDeleteMelanie: your pictures have come so far! your beach pictures have a great depth and AWESOME contrast. The colors pop off your blog, and really feel unified. As far as different landscapes, this area really is limited to a few different scenarios so I understand. Straight horizons are important in landscapes, unless the slant is purposeful and enhances your subject. Such a huge development in your photography, great job!
Sorry for this being so late guys, I've been a little under the weather.
ReplyDeleteEmily: It’s interesting to see little things that hold memories to you, but I still feel disconnected as a viewer with your images. I think some could be taken in better light, cropped and composed a little bit.
Catherine: Beautiful images, beautiful buildings and architecture.
Gabe: Your blogs is so aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Everything about it is very pretty. Great job.
Haley: I still really love the concept, but I feel like some of the images aren’t as strong as when you first began this blog. Still very strong, though.
Marva: I’m still not too sure on the concept, but your images are very strong.
Melanie: I love your photos. The landscapes are gorgeous. Great job! It’s a nice contrast going from the forest and lakes to the beach.
Patrick: The past couple weeks your photos have gotten so cool! I love band photography, and the angles you shoot at are very unique. I also really enjoy the editing you’ve done to the photos.
